On October 26th, 2017 the ACLU joined a coalition letter submitted to ICE in response to their having submitted a Request for Information (RFI) to assist in the identification of new detention sites within 180 miles of Chicago, Detroit, St. Paul, and Salt Lake City to detain up to 3,000 people each day. The ACLU is opposed to the expansion envisioned in this RFI because it cannot be accomplished without undermining due process and civil rights protections for those who will be detained.
