On July 19th, 2017, the ACLU sent this letter to Senators, urging them to support S. 1588, the Democracy Restoration Act of 2017. S. 1588 would restore federal voting rights to over 4.7 million American citizens who are currently prevented from fully participating in civic life due to a past criminal conviction.
