This coalition letter, signed by the ACLU, calls on the House Judiciary Committee to commit to holding public hearings on reform of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). The letter comes in response to the committee’s decision to make a Feb 2, 2016 hearing on the subject closed to the public. The letter argues that the decision does not satisfy earlier promises made by the committee to hold full and open hearings on Section 702 surveillance and prevents a public debate on this controversial law that the nation deserves.
