Coalition Statement Supporting the McCain/Feinstein Torture Prohibition Amendment to the Senate FY 2016 National Defense Authorization Act

A coalition statement applauding the introduction of a bipartisan amendment to the Senate FY 2016 National Defense Authorization Act that reinforces the U.S. prohibition on torture. The McCain/Feinstein amendment would require all federal agencies to interrogate detainees, other than those picked up for law enforcement purposes, solely through use of interrogation tactics specified in the Army Field Manual on Interrogations. It also requires prompt notification of the Red Cross whenever a detainee is brought into custody under the laws of war.
