This statement was submitted to the Senate Judiciary Committee for its hearing on July 21, 2015 on “Oversight of the Administration’s Misdirected Immigration Enforcement Policies: Examining the Impact on Public Safety and Honoring the Victims.” In the statement, the ACLU urges Senators to refrain from imposing immigration policy that would penalize local law enforcement agencies for longstanding policies that limit local officials’ entanglement in federal immigration enforcement.”
