More than 40 organizations, including the ACLU, joined this sign-on letter sent to House leadership to comment on H.R. 653, the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) Oversight and Implementation Act. The letter was sent on January 15, four days after the House passed the bill by voice vote, to call attention to provisions in the bill that would exempt the Intelligence Community from certain aspects of the FOIA amendments – as well as to express support for the bill’s reforms to FOIA.
