Sign-On Letter Urges NO Vote on the Pittenger Amendments to H.R. 5055, the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2017

The sign-on from LGBT and civil rights groups urged members of the House to vote against two amendments from Rep. Pittenger (R-NC), which would prevent the revocation of federal funding to North Carolina. These amendments would limit the federal government’s ability to enforce federal civil rights laws. Specifically, the amendments would bar the Obama administration from withholding or revoking federal funds to North Carolina in response to the state’s discriminatory law (H.B. 2) that bars transgender individuals from using the bathroom that corresponds to their gender identity.
