TODAY, Thursday, January 31, 2013, the ACLU of Alaska Foundation filed Ballas, UNITE HERE Local 878, Kohlhaas, Sheridan, Alaskans for Peace and Justice, Alaska AFL-CIO, Bright, and Moe v. Anchorage, which challenges: the Municipality of Anchorage’s “sidewalk sitting” ordinance – an unconstitutional prohibition of the right to protest on public sidewalks; and the panhandling ordinance – an impermissible restriction of constitutionally protected speech.
Selected plaintiffs will make a brief statement, and their attorney Joshua Decker, of the ACLU of Alaska, will be available to answer questions.
