ACLU Comments on RFI Regarding Faith-Based Organizations

The ACLU submitted these comments in response to a Request for Information (RFI) published in the Federal Register entitled “Removing Barriers for Religious and Faith-Based Organizations to Participate in HHS Programs and Receive Public Funding.” The RFI indicates that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is considering expanding religious exemptions in HHS programs and activities or eliminating patient protections outright — actions that would undermine HHS’ mission and unconstitutionally entrench discrimination in health care.
