The ACLU joined this Leadership Conference letter to the Senate, urging members to protect and defend the Federal Communication Commission’s Lifeline program, which was the subject of September hearings in the Commerce and the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committees. Lifeline allows the country’s most vulnerable and chronically underserved communities to obtain broadband Internet and telephone service that would be otherwise unaffordable.
