This ACLU vote recommendation, sent on March 27, 2017, urges House Members to vote against S.J. Res. 34, which would overturn the FCC’s rule on “Protecting the Privacy of Customers of Broadband and Other Telecommunications Services.” The ACLU opposes efforts to roll back this rule, which requires broadband internet service providers to get customers’ consent before sharing their sensitive data with third parties. Passing the resolution would eliminate these privacy protections for consumers and could foreclose future efforts from the FCC to protect consumers’ privacy.
