The ACLU joined these comments from the Leadership Conference to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), in the proceeding “Accelerating Wireline Broadband Deployment by Removing Barriers to Infrastructure Investment.” The comments express concern that the FCC’s proceeding will undo important progress to protect consumers during the transition to advanced communications networks, such as fiber, co-axial cable, and wireless internet. They urge the FCC to preserve customer protections and education requirements, so that high-quality, affordable, and reliable service is available for all communities.
