Last week, we told you about Pennsylvania Tom Corbett’s demand for the identities of two Twitter users who criticized him in the run-up to last week’s state primaries.
We’re happy to report that free speech on Twitter has triumphed! Corbett dropped the grand jury subpoena on Friday.
Witold “Vic” Walczak , the ACLU of Pennsylvania’s legal director, told Wired that the subpoenas were “[N]ot only an abuse of the grand jury process but a real affront to political speech rights.”
Vic told WHTM : “We also hope that the people of Pennsylvania will now have learned that criticizing one’s government officials is a valued constitutional right, that the right can be pursued anonymously”
