The Supreme Court refused to hear a petition to revive a law prohibiting audio-recording police officers in public, after a lower court struck down the law on constitutional grounds in response to a challenge by the ACLU of Illinois.  The right to record police officers is protected under the First Amendment, and is essential to law enforcement accountability.
