The Trump administration is reportedly considering declaring several international nonprofits, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, as anti-Semitic.

Below is comment in response from Kate Ruane, ACLU senior legislative counsel:

“This is yet another attempt by the Trump administration to punish groups for expressing messages that Trump doesn’t like. By equating criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism, Pompeo aims to suppress and chill legitimate advocacy in support of Palestinian human rights. Threatening to block government funds to groups that criticize Israel is blatantly unconstitutional.”
