ACLU FOLLOW-UP STATEMENT ON DMV FACIAL RECOGNITION STORY
In response to media reports that the Rhode Island DMV disputes the accuracy of the GAO reported cited in our earlier news release, the ACLU of Rhode Island today issued the following statement:
“We are happy to hear that the GAO report was incorrect as to Rhode Island’s status on participating in the FBI’s facial recognition program, and we are extremely pleased that the state, unlike many others, is rejecting this federal plan to invade driver’s privacy. We commend the state for its position.”
