ACLU of North Dakota’s Statement on Grand Forks City Council Passing LGBT Nondiscrimination Ordinance
Ordinance’s passage is reflection of North Dakotan values

Grand Forks, N.D. – Tonight, the Grand Forks City Council voted to pass an ordinance to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people from housing discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity, becoming the first city in North Dakota’s history to adopt such ordinance.
“We commend the Grand Forks City Council for passing this historic measure,” said Zach Packineau, organizer for the ACLU of North Dakota, “The passage of this ordinance sends a loud and clear message that discrimination won’t be tolerated in Grand Forks. Every Grand Forks family should be able to choose their neighborhood without fear. It guarantees that families won’t be turned away from housing simply for being who they are,” said Zach Packineau, organizer for the ACLU of North Dakota.
