ACLU Staff and Building Safe and Sound
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The ACLU’s New York national office was undamaged by the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The building was evacuated and all staff of the ACLU and the New York Civil Liberties Union, which shares our location, are safe.
The ACLU’s New York office resumed operations on September 17th. However, because the building is in lower Manhattan, our telephone and computer services have been disrupted. We are unable to receive incoming phone calls and have difficulty placing outgoing calls. We do not have e-mail service. We regret any inconvenience that these disruptions pose for members, donors, and others, and hope that our communication services will be functioning normally soon.
We appreciate the many expressions of concern that we have received, and hope that all our members and supporters are safe. We extend our deepest sympathy to all who have lost loved ones in the terrorist attack.
