ACLU of Texas Reacts to Rep. Rinaldi's Comment About Peaceful SB4 Protesters
HOUSTON — Today, State Rep. Matt Rinaldi told two Latino lawmakers he called ICE on peaceful protesters opposing Senate Bill 4 (SB4) at the Texas State Capitol.
The following quote can be attributed to Astrid Dominguez, immigration policy strategist of the ACLU of Texas:
“We call on Rep. Rinaldi to publicly apologize for his racist comments. His hateful rhetoric about peaceful protesters exercising their constitutional rights goes against everything we stand for as Texans. Rep. Rinaldi’s actions prove that anti-immigrant legislation like SB4 is motivated by animus and has already led to discrimination and racial profiling.”
