NASHVILLE – The American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee denounces last night’s act of vandalism at the Al-Farooq Islamic Center. ACLU-TN supports the right of Muslims across the state to practice their religion freely, without fear of harm.
ACLU-TN will join with other community and faith leaders across Tennessee to stand in solidarity against attacks on any and all houses of worship. The gathering will take place at 7 p.m. today, February 11, at the Al-Farooq Islamic Center, 1421 4th Ave South, Nashville.
The following can be attributed to Hedy Weinberg, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee:
“The American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee condemns the recent vandalism at Al-Farooq Islamic Center and stands in solidarity with the mosque. Making Muslims–or any other religious group–feel unwelcome in our community conflicts with our Founders’ vision of religious liberty and tolerance. ACLU-TN will continue to stand strong in our support of religious freedom.”
