ACLU wants FBI records about Nevada bear hunt foes (Associated Press)
The FBI improperly investigated bear hunting opponents who spoke out at public meetings before the Washoe County Wildlife Advisory Board and the Nevada Wildlife Commission, chilling their First Amendment rights. Members of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force targeted activists from the American Indian Movement of Nevada (AIM) after the meetings, interviewing one individual at his workplace and arresting another, who was later released without charge. The ACLU of Nevada filed a Freedom of Information Act request on behalf of AIM and “No Bear Hunt Nevada” to determine the scope of the FBI’s investigation.
