CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia voters who encounter problems at the polls in the 2020 General Election are encouraged to contact the American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia (ACLU-WV) by calling our 2020 Election Protection Hotline.

Voters may also call the hotline with any questions they might have about how to cast a ballot.

Starting Friday, Sept. 18, the hotline will staffed 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, in addition to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays during the period of early voting (Oct. 21-31). Those who call will be able to leave a message if they do not immediately reach a hotline staffer. Voicemail is currently active on the hotline and calls will be returned as soon as possible.

The hotline will be operational all day, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (or until polls close) on Election Day, Nov. 3. ACLU staffers, students from the West Virginia University College of Law, and other volunteers will staff the hotline.

“Voting is a fundamental right and forms the foundation of our democracy,” ACLU- WV Legal Director Loree Stark said. “While we hope that voters do not encounter any significant issues with voting, we anticipate there may be some unresolved questions surrounding the still relatively new process of absentee voting. We are here to help resolve any questions or issues that people may require.”

The hotline phone number is 304-355-5012.

By completing this form, I agree to receive occasional emails per the terms of the ACLU’s privacy policy.
