LAS VEGAS, NV – The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada has named Tod Story as its Interim Executive Director, effective February 1, 2013.
Story most recently was District Director for U.S. Representative Shelley Berkley (D-Nevada) for 14 years. Berkley lost her campaign for the U.S. Senate seat held by Dean Heller in November.
“I look forward to working with the Nevada ACLU to protect the civil rights, liberties, equality, and freedoms guaranteed to us by the U.S. Constitution,” Story said. “The ACLU of Nevada will be engaged in informing and educating the public throughout the upcoming Nevada legislative session, and I am thrilled to be part of the ACLU of Nevada team that will work with legislators in addressing the needs of the state, while continuing to protect the rights of our citizens.”
Robert N. Chester, President of the Board of Directors of the ACLU of Nevada, said, “We feel fortunate to have found Tod available for this critically important role, as we pursue our search for a permanent Executive Director. His experience and expertise will be vital during this interim period.”
Prior to working for Congresswoman Berkley, Story was an aide to U.S. Senator Richard Bryan (D-Nevada) from 1997 to 1998. He holds a BFA degree in communications, with an emphasis in public relations and political science, from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
Story replaces Dane S. Claussen, who was Executive Director of the ACLU of Nevada from January 10, 2011, until his resignation, effective January 31, 2013.
