DHS’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) circulated false information to Congress and the intelligence community from a debunked Illinois fusion center report about a cyberattack. DHS defended itself saying I&A does not make “analytical judgments” about the quality of its information, and characterized its report as a success because it generated “interest” in the issue. This incident is detailed in a new Senate report on fusion centers.
