The ACLU of Michigan sued federal agencies and Frontier Airlines for racial profiling on behalf of an American mother of two who was wrongfully removed from a plane in Detroit, handcuffed, detained and strip searched by the FBI. She was detained along with two men she did not know but were seated next to her, after passengers complained that men “possibly of Arab descent” were behaving suspiciously by using the bathroom. The lawsuit charges that the woman, who is of Jewish and Arab descent, was a victim of racial profiling based on her appearance and name.
