ACLU 2025 Annual Report
Our 2025 annual report details how the ACLU's network of 2,175 staff and 7 million activists and members worked around the clock this year to protect free speech, immigrants' rights, LGBTQ equality, and much more from the Trump administration's unconstitutional agenda. To date, the ACLU has already taken over 200 legal actions against the Trump administration. Alongside lists of the ACLU’s key wins and efforts in 2025, the report tells the stories of ACLU advocates, clients, and staff who are on the front lines of this fight.

"Student Speech Under Attack: Suppression of Pro-Palestine Speech and Dissent on Campus"
"Student Speech Under Attack: Suppression of Pro-Palestine Speech and Dissent on Campus," an ACLU and Amnesty International USA research report, documents the heavy-handed responses by certain university and college administrators and police to campus protests concerning Israel’s war in Gaza. The report is based on a two-year investigation of the policies and practices of 46 public and 34 private university and college campuses across 28 states and the District of Columbia, and the impact of those responses on student protesters and the broader academic community. It also documents the federal government's fierce McCarthyite campaign against pro-Palestinian speech and expression that began in late 2023 and continues today. The report concludes with recommendations to policymakers, the federal government, and university leaders to protect academic freedom for all.

The ACLU report, Improving Asylum at and Beyond the U.S. Border, explores how the Trump administration’s attacks on asylum and other humanitarian protections are weakening the U.S. immigration system already on the brink of collapse. The report argues that gutting asylum not only sends people with valid asylum claims to countries where they death but also disincentivizes people from seeking legal pathways.
Agents of Chaos and Cruelty: How the Trump Administration's National Deportation Policing Force Has Attacked American Communities
This ACLU research report, Agents of Chaos and Cruelty, documents widespread civil rights violations carried out by immigration agents during the first year of President Trump’s second term. The report examines immigration enforcement incidents in eight states – representing a cross-section of the country and reflecting varying degrees of federal law enforcement presence and personnel surges – and found that over 400 of the more than 1,200 immigration enforcement incidents examined involved misconduct by immigration agents. The report ends with detailed recommendations urging policymakers to call for transformative change to our immigration system, in recognition that it is broken and dangerous to human rights.
