Reproductive Freedom

Reproductive Freedom

The ACLU's Reproductive Freedom Project protects everyone's right to make informed decisions free from government interference about whether and when to become a parent. Learn more about our work in reproductive health and take action to protect rights guaranteed to all Americans.

The ACLU works to secure a world that respects everyone’s right to form intimate relationships and to decide whether and when to have children. With reproductive freedom comes opportunity: opportunity to build strong families and to enjoy a productive and meaningful life. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, we strive to ensure that our government respects and supports reproductive freedom for all.

Our work focuses on a wide range of issues, including increasing access to affordable contraception, securing age-appropriate sex education in our schools, fighting pregnancy discrimination in the workplace, and protecting a woman’s ability to make personal, private decision about pregnancy and abortion.

Increasingly, extremist politicians are trying to take away access to essential reproductive health services. At every turn, and with your help, the ACLU stands ready to block these efforts and secure reproductive freedom for all.

Stand with us and tell those who seek to undermine our private and personal decisions that you are NOT stupid.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

Using Religion to Discriminate (Campaign)

With increasing frequency, we are seeing individuals and institutions claiming a right to discriminate – by refusing to provide services to women and LGBT people – based on religious objections. This trend includes hospitals, insurance companies, pharmacies, and other health care entities discriminating against women by denying basic care – like birth control, emergency contraception, and abortion – in the name of religion. The ACLU works to defend religious liberty and to ensure that no one is either discriminated against or denied services because of someone else’s religious beliefs.
