Substantial financial resources are essential to pursuing the wide-ranging legal, legislative and educational activities of the ACLU of Massachusetts. Gifts to the ACLU Foundation of Massachusetts (ACLUFM) will be gratefully received in any amount.
ACLU of Massachusetts receives no government funding and never charges its clients for legal representation. Its existence depends entirely on private donations, foundation grants, court-awarded legal fees from successful cases and bequests.
Please note that we cannot issue a membership card for gifts to the ACLUFM, which is a 501(c)(3) entity. Most ACLUFM donors choose to become card-carrying members of the ACLU of Massachusetts as well.
The ACLU is comprised of two organizations, the American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU Foundation. Contributions to ACLU foundations are tax deductible for charitable purposes, while ACLU membership dues are not. [ ? ]
