Leen first moved to America in 2000 and lived in this house growing up. Leen's father moved his family to Dearborn, Michigan to give his children a life of opportunity. Her favorite part of the house was the big basement where she and her siblings would rollerblade and ride bikes in the snowy winters.


Leen and her family would go see the Christmas lights in town together every year. Dearborn's City Hall always decorates a big tree.


Leen and her siblings loved to go ice skating during the Christmas holiday in downtown Detroit.


In high school, Leen went to Washington, DC on a class trip. Her favorite part of the trip was visiting the nation's capitol and learning about American history. She has always felt she is American regardless of her immigration status.



Leen loves sports of all kinds and went to her high school's homecoming football game and dance during her junior year.


Leen graduated from highschool with the dream and ambition of becoming a doctor. Her family threw a surprise graduation party for her in the backyard and all her friends came.



Leen is now a pre-medical student at Wayne State University. She has always dreamt of being a doctor to help people in need. Leen has overcome many obstacles to put herself through college and work toward her dream.
