A DHS privacy impact assessment concludes that suspicious activity reports compiled by the National Infrastructure Coordinating Center, called “Patriot Reports,” risk unnecessarily collecting and retaining personally identifiable information such as an individual’s name, address, phone numbers, social security number, race, ethnicity, height and weight, eye color, hair color, or other identifying information and features. The information is disseminated to the FBI and DOJ, and is kept on file with DHS for at least 5 years.
