The 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup: Know Your Rights, Know Your Risks
If you’re attending the 2026 World Cup in areas impacted by the Trump administration’s militarized immigration crackdown. Know your rights — and your risks — before you go.
More than 6.5 million people are expected to attend the tournament. In the U.S., many of games and events will take place in cities that have already experienced the harshest impacts of the administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement tactics.
We’ve spent months sounding the alarm with FIFA, host cities, and the U.S. government about the administration’s rising violence and authoritarianism. In April, we released a travel advisory for the World Cup, urging individuals to exercise caution and have a contingency plan when traveling to and within the U.S.
Fans, players, journalists, and everyone alike should be prepared for potential risks, including racial profiling by law enforcement, invasive social media screening, searches of electronic devices, suppression of speech and protest, and other threats to civil liberties. Know your rights before you travel — and make a plan to protect yourself and your community.
Know your rights ahead of the FIFA World Cup
