On August 5, 2008, New York Times Magazine writer Jonathan Mahler released The Challenge: Hamdan v. Rumsfeld and the Fight Over Presidential Power. This book tells the story of Salim Hamdan, the Yemeni man and driver of Osama bin Laden who was the first Guantanánamo Bay detainee brought to trial under the Bush administration's unlawful military commission system.
