Coalition letter in support of Air Carrier Access Amendments Act of 2018

Document Date: June 26, 2018

The ACLU joined this letter from the Consortium of Citizens with Disabilities, in support of H.R. 5004, the Air Carrier Access Amendments Act (ACAAA) of 2018. The legislation would strengthen the rights of airline passengers with disabilities and close service gaps frequently encountered in air travel, such as damaged equipment, delayed assistance, and lack of seating accommodations. The ACAAA would increase existing protections by strengthening enforcement to include specific protections of the rights of passengers with disabilities and a private right of action; ensuring airplanes are designed to accommodate people with disabilities; ensuring airlines meet accessibility standards; improving access to seating accommodations; and closing service gaps.
