Statement for SAFE Justice Act Press Conference

On June 25, 2015, Michael W. Macleod-Ball, Acting Director of the ACLU’s Washington Legislative Office, delivered this statement at a press conference to recognize the introduction of the Safe, Accountable, Fair, and Effective (SAFE) Justice Act. The bill, H.R. 2944, was offered by Reps. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) and Bobby Scott (D-VA) as a bipartisan effort to reduce the prison population and decrease the unsustainable costs of over-incarceration.
