Increasingly, we have seen a proliferation of proposed abortion restrictions that target the most vulnerable populations or those who have no choice but to rely on the government for their health care needs. Laws that seek to all but deny abortion care to women in the military, Peace Corps volunteers, those living in poor and rural areas, the underserved and teenagers, effectively create “separate, but equal” health care policies where some women, in certain areas and situations do not have access to all of their reproductive health options. In total disregard of a woman’s unique circumstances, some politicians have decided that there are those among us who do not deserve access to vital information and health care services.
