ACLU Written Statement for Hearing on Graham-Cassidy Health Care Bill

Document Date: September 25, 2017

The ACLU submitted this statement for the record of the Senate Finance Committee’s September 25, 2017 hearing on the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson proposal. The ACLU opposes this legislation, which would repeal key provisions of the Affordable Care Act, harm people with disabilities and women by cutting and capping Medicaid, deny patients access to Planned Parenthood, and restrict abortion coverage. While the Congressional Budget Office did not have the opportunity to provide a full analysis of the bill at the time of the hearing, the legislation would no doubt deprive millions of people of health care coverage, without which they cannot fully participate in the life of our nation.
