In advance of an anticipated floor vote, the ACLU urged members of the House of Representatives to oppose on H.R. 36, the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.” H.R. 36 would impose an extreme and unconstitutional nationwide pre-viability ban on abortion. The ACLU opposes this legislation because it interferes with a woman’s personal medical decisions and violates fundamental constitutional principles.
