Coalition Statement Opposing Global Gag Rule - 2017

The ACLU and 137 other groups signed this coalition statement opposing the global gag rule, also known as the Mexico City Policy. This rule blocks aid to foreign organizations who use their own non-US funds to provide information, referrals, or services for legal abortion or to advocate for access to abortion services in their own country. Barack Obama rescinded the policy, initially instituted in 1984, in 2009.
