This September 21, 2016 letter - signed by more than 60 organizations committed to advancing reproductive health, rights, and justice, including the ACLU - was submitted to the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice for its hearing entitled “The Ultimate Civil Right: Examining the Hyde Amendment and the Born Alive Infants Protection Act.” The letter expresses support for lifting the Hyde Amendment, a harmful and discriminatory policy which places onerous restrictions on abortion coverage, and all other bans on insurance coverage of comprehensive reproductive health care. The letter also promotes the Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance (EACH) Woman Act, which has accumulated 122 cosponsors since being introduced by Rep. Barbara Lee in July 2015.
